Building a Culture of Wellness at TVFHT

It was a busy year on the staff wellness side of things at Thames Valley Family Health Team (TVFHT).

Winter social at Boler Mountain

The Wellness Committee put together a staff event on Tuesday, February 11th at Boler Mountain. More than 60 staff turned up to enjoy a beautiful day filled with good food, lots of joyful laughter, and a few twirling, thrilling trips down the tubing hill.

Service in the Community

The Wellness Committee led a sock drive during the winter season. Thanks to staff support, 166 pairs of socks in 53 packages were collected and donated.

This group also spearheaded the annual food drive for area food banks. The London Food Bank received 6 overflowing grocery bags of food and baby formula, as well as 2 cases of oral nutrition supplements.

Break Room Wellness Space

The committee supported employee wellness by enhancing the online Break Room Wellness Space with resources across key themes—including Therapeutic Tools, Find Inspiration, Music and Podcasts, Mindfulness, Healthy Lifestyle, and Gratitude—providing comfort, inspiration, and practical strategies to strengthen resilience and promote a positive workplace culture.

Staff Recognition and Appreciation

There was a lot to celebrate this past year.

The Wellness Committee supported the June 2024 Spring conference as well as the November full-day All-Staff Meeting. For these events, the committee organized self-care resources, jackets for all staff, and prizes for attendees.

Other initiatives on the staff recognition front include an increase effort to recognize staff internally and externally, capture team photos to use for professional recognition events.

TVFHT said goodbye to Drina Silva, Communications Lead, who retired after 17 years of service.

Goals and next steps

They are not done yet! This group is working towards fostering staff connection, especially between teams, with more in-person events.

They are working on finding ways to increase staff recognition and new opportunities for community service.
