Executive Leadership Changes at TVFHT: McMahon seconded to AFHTO, Strong appointed Interim Executive Director

Thames Valley Family Health Team (TVFHT) is pleased to announce significant changes to its Executive Leadership Team.

Executive Director Mike McMahon is being seconded to the Association of Family Health Teams Ontario (AFHTO) as their interim CEO effective June 3, 2024. As a result of this change, Jill Strong, TVFHT Director of Operations, will become Interim Executive Director effective June 3, 2024.

These decisions come after careful consideration by the Board of Directors and reflect their confidence in both Mike’s and Jill’s leadership abilities and deep understanding of the healthcare landscape.

“Mike has been an integral part of our organization for over five years and has consistently demonstrated his commitment to excellence and innovation,” says Dr. Kellie Scott, TVFHT Board Chair. “His strategic vision, coupled with his dedication to advancing the mission of AFHTO, makes him the ideal candidate to lead the organization during this interim period.”

McMahon was appointed to the AFHTO Board of Directors in October 2023. A search began for an Interim CEO six months after McMahon joined the board. He expressed his interest and was the selected candidate.

“AFHTO’s success is critical as we advocate for increased support to primary care and family health teams in the province,” shares McMahon “I look forward to this challenge and I’m grateful to the TVFHT Board of Directors for their support. I offer my unwavering support to Jill Strong as Interim Executive Director at TVFHT. I am confident in her leadership abilities to successfully navigate this transition.”

Jill Strong has been working with TVFHT for ten years as of January 2024. As Acting Executive Director, she will draw from her experience as the current Director of Operations to maintain TVFHT’s collaborations and partnerships and maintain momentum in current projects. “I am grateful for this opportunity and for the support I have received from my team as we adapt to this change. I look forward to continuing to provide exceptional support to our patients, employees, and partners.”
