Format/Description
In this educational video, we focus on the factors that make quitting smoking a challenge. We review the physical and psychological aspects of nicotine addiction, suggest strategies to help you quit, and discuss medication options that can set you up for success.
Who should attend this group?
This video is intended for anyone who is thinking about quitting smoking or vaping.
Requirements/Expectations
The video recording is available to anyone—you do not have to be a patient of the Thames Valley Family Health Team (TVFHT) in order to view it.
If you are a TVFHT patient, you must view the video before seeing a clinician one-on-one for advice about quitting and to access free nicotine replacement supplies.
Benefits/Take-aways
You will receive information about community programs for individual counselling and how to access free nicotine replacement supplies (patches, gum, lozenges, etc.) in your area.
People who get even brief counselling from a healthcare provider are 30% more likely to quit. Quitting smoking is the single best thing you can do to improve your health and can add as much as 10 years to life expectancy.
