March 8-14 is Social Service Work Week. A week set aside to recognise the critical contributions of social service workers.
At Thames Valley Family Health Team, our Social Service Workers provide essential support to those in need including assessment, treatment, and evaluation of individuals. They provide support and advocate for patients and connect them to community services and programs.
Social service workers are on the frontlines, everyday.
Social Service Workers help reduce hospital visits, improve mental well-being, and empower patients to take control of their health. They collaborate with other health care providers at TVFHT to improve patient outcomes and build stronger communities.
We are pleased that our clinicians are involved in our free group programming that provides health information to all.
Our Social Service Workers lead groups such as
- Mind Over Mood
- Living Mindfully
- Introduction to Mindfulness
- Building Foundations. This is an introductory skills-focused group for adults who have a history of trauma and are currently experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress that are affecting day-to-day functioning.
As we commemorate Social Service Work Week, we express our gratitude to all Social Service Workers in Ontario who tirelessly reach out with dedication and compassion.
