Happy psychology month! With its roots dating back to Germany in the mid 1800s, today psychology looks at the biological, behavioural, social and cultural factors that impact the human experience.
Psychology in a Family Health Team
Our small but mighty team of psychologists dedicate their careers to empowering community members to live healthy and happy lives.
They provide mental health services, including in-depth psychological assessment, diagnosis, counseling, and psychotherapy. They work collaboratively with other clinicians to coordinate care, often helping patients manage the mental health aspects of physical illnesses.
Collaboration-Focused Education
One of our psychologists, Dr. Judith Francis, PhD, is the Collaborative Care Lead for Thames Valley Mental Health and Addictions Collaborative Care Network (TVCCN). The TVCCN uses tools like symptom tracking and regular psychiatry case review to improve access and patient experience.
Recently, the TVCCN was on display at the 2025 AFHTO Conference. The poster presentation, From Innovation to Implementation: Scaling Collaborative Mental Health Care in Primary Care Using a Co-Design and Quality Improvement Toolkit, highlighted how three diverse primary care clinics (academic, rural, urban) co-designed and implemented tailored models of collaborative care grounded in population health management and measurement-based care
This helped TVFHT cement its position as a leader in primary care.
As an organization, we are grateful to support patients in every aspect of their wellness including mental health. We’re also proud of the work this organization is doing to place TVFHT as a leader in primary care.
