March is Nutrition Month

This year’s theme is Nourish to Flourish – a reminder that there’s a powerful connection between food and overall wellness.

From supporting chronic disease management and navigating complex health concerns, to helping families build positive relationships with food, dietitians empower Canadians to make informed, sustainable choices every day.

We recognize the role dietitians play in helping people nourish both body and mind.

March 18 is Dietitian Day

In addition, Dietitian’s Day is celebrated on March 18th every year.  This day specifically honours the dedication, expertise, and impact of dietitians across Canada. It’s a time to recognize the essential role dietitians play in promoting healthy eating habits, supporting overall wellbeing, and providing trusted, evidence-based nutrition guidance to individuals and communities.

Dietitians as part of our Family Health Team

Dietitians are an integral part of our interdisciplinary health care team. They work as a team with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other interdisciplinary health professionals to provide patient-centred care.

Through this collaborative approach, our dietitians help address a broad range of health concerns, including heart health, diabetes management, digestive issues, eating disorders, and more.

We recognize that access to nutrition services can be a barrier for some community members. That’s why we offer free virtual group programs, including these nutrition focused ones:

  • Best Weight – A science-based approach to weight management, focusing on sustainable lifestyle changes.
  • Intuitive EatingLearn to make food choices that feel good without judgement or influence from diet culture.
  • Heart Health – A program dedicated to heart-healthy eating habits and cardiovascular wellness.
  • Sweet Talk – A support program for individuals managing blood sugar levels and diabetes.

These programs help participants learn practical skills related to nutrition, physical activity, and overall health behaviors that may reduce chronic disease risk. Best of all, these programs are available virtually and through self-paced videos making them as accessible as possible.

During Nutrition Month 2026, we offer a bushel of gratitude to our incredible team of dietitians. Their expertise, compassion, and dedication to patient care make a measurable difference in the lives of individuals and families in our communities. Thank you for all you do to nourish, educate, and empower the people we serve.
